cindy Taylor

Cindy Taylor has traveled from British Columbia, Canada, to take the position of Administrative Chair at Asheville Waldorf School. Cindy brings over two decades of Waldorf teaching and administrative experience, along with a background in counseling psychology, anthroposophic studies, and inclusive school leadership. She is a seasoned school leader who has guided schools through accreditation, mentored faculty, supported diverse learning communities, and helped institutions flourish through times of transition.

She has three adult daughters, four grandsons, and a granddaughter on the way. Before her teaching career began, Cindy lived on a sailboat where her first daughter was born. She sailed around the Strait of Georgia and dug clams for a living. The little family, with the addition of daughter number two, moved into a tiny squatter’s shack on Lasqueti Island, where they rebuilt parts of the wooden boat. Later, the family moved to a piece of land with no road access and no electricity, where their third daughter was born. Cindy planted a small orchard and grew fruits and vegetables for the family.

When it was time for the older girls to enter high school, the family moved to Qualicum Beach, where they started a coffee roasting business. Their youngest daughter was enrolled in a small Waldorf school there, and Cindy became the handwork teacher. She began her Waldorf teacher training that summer at Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, California. The rest is history: once a Waldorf teacher, always a Waldorf teacher.
