Tuition Assistance

Choosing an independent Waldorf education is a meaningful investment in your child’s future. We understand tuition can be a stretch for some families, and we’re committed to making an Asheville Waldorf School education accessible through state programs and our own Financial Aid process.

BENEFITS FROM THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

​➢ NC Opportunity Scholarship

  • Who:  All families with children born on or before August 30, 2021 — regardless of income.

  • What:  $3,360–$7,468 per year directly to the school toward your child’s tuition.

  • When:  Apply February 2 – March 2, 2026.

  • Where: Through NCSEAA's MyPortal.

 

​➢ ESA+ (Education Student Accounts)

  • Who:  Children born on or before August 30, 2021 who have a disability requiring special education services.

  • What:  $9,000 annual award for tuition and approved supports.
    * Children with certain diagnoses (autism, hearing impairment, moderate/severe intellectual disability, orthopedic impairment, or visual impairment) may receive an additional $8,000 (total of $17,000).

  • When (for an award beginning in the 2027-2028 school year):

    1. October 1, 2026 or earlier - meet with your child's teacher and AWS support staff about what to do before you start.

    2. November 1, 2026 or earlier - request IEP evaluation from NC public school 

    3. February 2 - March 2, 2027 - apply online through NCSEAA's MyPortal

ASHEVILLE WALDORF SCHOOL FINANCIAL AID

AWS Financial Aid application- Clarity

Financial Aid applications are available for 5-day students through Clarity to help make Waldorf education accessible to all families.

To be eligible to apply, the student must
  • Attend 5 days/week,

  • Turn 5 by August 31, 2026, and

  • Renew their NC Opportunity Scholarship or apply for for one between February 2 - March 2, 2026
