mon Bethelwood

Mon Bethelwood brings a diverse background in community health, education, and the arts to her work at Asheville Waldorf School. Before becoming a class teacher, she worked in community outreach for the YMCA of WNC, led creative programs for children and families, and founded One Love Kitchen—a grassroots, donation-based effort that provided meals and community support in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. She also continues to nurture her own work as a writer, musician, and visual artist.

Mon was drawn to Waldorf education for its reverence for childhood, its integration of the arts, and its view of learning as a holistic path of head, heart, and hands. She delights in guiding her class through story, movement, and creativity, and is especially inspired by how language, history, and myth can come alive for children at this age.

When she is not in the classroom, Mon enjoys making music, writing, and spending time with her children, partner, and animals in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
